Requin Bleu de John Montroll / Robert Lang

Les plus attentifs commenceront à observer un certain motif récurrent - oui, c'est encore un modèle du même livre :)



Ce requin a 20 ans mais n'a rien à envier à des modèles plus récents:

Il y a des pointes qui sortent de partout sans qu'on ne devine exactement comment sans l'avoir entre les doigts, il est modelé en rondeur (pourtant c'est bien signé Montroll), sans parler de la séquence de pliage qui est carrément ingénieuse. Je serais carrément fier si un jour je pouvais concevoir un modèle de ce niveau, avec un tel équilibre entre le détail et la simplicité des lignes - ce ne sera pas pour tout de suite...


Le lokta argenté utilisé ici a été agrémenté d'une pointe d'acrylique bleue mélangée au MC, la feuille obtenue ainsi est, pardonnez moi, de la balle... Elle tient bien le pli mais les plis parasites se laissent facilement effacer.

Yes, again, that's right - the more observant amongst you will have noticed that it is yet another model from the same book.


This blue shark was designed 20 years ago and yet it has little to envy newer designs:

There are appendices coming out of nowhere and yet, unless you hold it in your hands, you can hardly guess where they come from. It has a nice curved shaping (yes, "even though" it is a Montroll model), and to top all of this, the folding sequence is totally ingenious. If I could design something of the kind someday it would be great; I'd certainly be proud to find the equilibrium between detail and simplicity of curves which characterise this origami model. Don't hold your breath just yet, though :)


The silver lokta paper used here has been treated with a mix of MC and blue acrylic paint, it's been a great sheet, easily holding folds and yet allowing parasite lines to be pinched away.
