(unryu on elephant hide square + acrylic varnish - 30cm)

I've made a test fold of unryu on elephant hide, to have the texture of the first and the strength of the latter. In terms of folding, it works pretty well, but the choice of black for both layers meant the unryu was drinking all the light up, it was quite impossible to get a shot which would show the details of the face. As this was an experiment anyway, I figured I could carry on and test an acrylic varnish I'd bought; at least I get a shot with most of the details showing with a lateral source of light.

Maybe I should have tried a matt finish instead, or maybe some colour to lighten things up and to allow shadows to appear - one learns everyday.
